Don't Be Intimidated

Guess who. ME! Guess what. Springfest!!! Guess where. The beach! Guess when. Last Friday! Guess why. Just Cuz.

If you weren't smart enough to see what I did there: Last Friday I went to Springfest at the beach just cuz. It was fun, yet nauseating. It was too small for non-nauseating rides. Every single ride was a spin-you-until-you-throw-up ride. Oh well! I'm tough, I can take it.

Also, we went to Camp Watchaug for a field trip on Friday. I went zip lining because I'm one of those dare-devils who do things like that. Don't be intimidated.

And guess who had to do prize speaking today. Me.. It wasn't as bad as in 6th grade, though. I got one of the only C's I've ever gotten on prize speaking in 6th grade. But I've gotten more maturerer since then and did fantastically. I chose a part from the popular children's movie: Alice and Wonderland. Everyone was asking for my autograph.

Not-So-Super-Exciting Things, Plus My Birthday and Easter

Hello there. I don't believe I've posted in the last 2 months. I've been super busy doing not-so-super-exciting things like homework and track. I had a track meet yesterday and it was freezing cold, but I achieved my goal of not doing completely terribly.

My birthday was a couple weeks ago and I joined the 13 club. I went out to dinner at Foxwoods and 5 other people stole my birthday. So, everyone had already said "Happy Birthday" a million bajillion times when it was my turn to stand on the stairs with a free ice cream and force people to give me birthday wishes. I guess that's what happens when your birthday is on a Friday. Then, for my party I had a sleepover and we got to paint on the walls at my dad's house with glow-in-the-dark paint. It was pretty cool! Also, we made glow-in-the-dark t-shirts. And we watched "The Breakfast Club" on a projector. And we had waffles (with nutella and whip cream) instead of cake. You jealous?

For Easter we had an Easter egg hunt in the backyard. There were like 30 eggs and I still have candy left over because I didn't want to throw up at track the next day.

We also got 10 new fishies for our fish tank. We had a little bit too much fun naming them, I think.

Nemo the Blizzard

It's okay, I'm alive. I bet you were wondering because we just had a natural disaster. Nemo! The blizzard, not my dog. It was the coolest thing ever! And usually there isn't lightening during snow storms but this time there was. It was so weird. And now my backyard is completely covered in snow. I think we have a sled or two buried back there.
In the middle of the blizzard, at like 6:30 pm, we walked to my friend Grace's house. It was so weird being out there. Every time there was lightening, everything around you flickered blue. There were only a couple of weirdos out there walking in the middle of a storm and that was us. There were telephone poles and wires down and ice flying at your face. I couldn't really see a thing. And I didn't wear snow pants or anything so when we got to their house I was soaking wet. It was okay, though, because we made it.
I'm pretty sure they called and cancelled school for tomorrow. I'm probably one of the only people annoyed by this. I think that if they just plowed the roads and fixed the all of the wires that fell, we would be just fine. That's my silly little opinion, but it's probably easier said than done.

Happy Martin Luther King Day!!!!

Well. It's been a while. What holidays have past since my last post? Christmas, New Years, Martin Luther King Day. All of the big ones. Well it isn't really my fault. You see, I was enjoying my trip to California, where I was for Christmas. And then we had a New Years party back home which took up all my time. And then I got sick. I had a sore throat and a sore mouth and a cough and a fever. I was out of school for 5 days! And then I had to make up all of that work. And then we went to New Hampshire to go skiing. Yes, I realize that skiing after being severely ill is a bad idea so it's good thing I wasn't, like, severely severely ill. And then we just got back yesterday. And then my sister was sick today and I had to take care of her like the good sister I am. So I've been busy.
It snowed today!! Only a little, but enough to make me smile. I hope we have school tomorrow, though. I know. That sounds weird. But I missed 5 days! I don't want to stay home another day. The town of Westerly is wimpish. If there's a little bit of snow, they threaten to cancel school. Or have an hour delay. Which is stupid because it never really snows. Only a little. It won't take an hour to plow the roads. Especially if there's only a millimeter to plow. It's a little bit frustrating, I'm not gonna lie.
Oh and guess what? I got my room redone. Well sort of. I just got rid of my loft bed and am waiting for my new bed to come in because at the moment I'm sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Which my dog likes because he doesn't have to jump to get up. He's getting big. Well bigger than he was, which isn't saying much because he was pretty small.
I guess I'll tell you about my trip to New Hampshire. Well we were near North Conway, I was told. We go there almost every time we go to New Hampshire. And we stay at the same place each time. The Old Field House. It's a B&B type place. They have an arcade. Not an arcade with like loud obnoxious video games, but an arcade with air hockey, ping pong, Foosball, shuffleboard, and such. They also have a dog named Teddy-bear. She is so cute and furry and big. They make really good breakfast in the morning, they play a movie at 7 every night, and have an outdoor hot-tub  Anyways, this time we stayed in the big fancy honeymoon suite there. We stayed with friends and it was cool because there was a door from our suite that lead to a staircase that lead to their suite. We went cross-country skiing both days we were there and now I'm am really sore and probably in really good shape. We skied on a trail called "The Wave" and it went up and down and up and down and I braved it. And only fell twice... Happy Martin Luther King Day!!

I'm not going to shut up about Christmas until it's over

Guess who's in California? My sister.. My dad..  and Meeeeee!!!!! And like the rebel I am, I missed two days of school! WOOOOOO!! And we've already run out of things to do. We went for a Christmas caroling golf cart ride, we watched a movie, we went to the Jelly Belly factory and got a tour, and we went to Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Like what are we supposed to do for the next week? Just kidding! Your probably thinking, "Wait, did I hear her say Jelly Belly factory?" You thought correctly.
So as a Christmas present, Grandma and Grandpa bought us tickets to Six Flags! We were supposed to go Friday, but there was expected rain so we went yesterday. I mean yesterday there was expected rain, too, but not until 3:00 pm. We got up and dressed and left at about 10 so that we would have all morning to go on rides until it started raining. When we got  there it was about 11 and it looked closed. We looked online and the park didn't open until 2 and we were an hour away from home. We really didn't want to go back. To make things even better, Grandma left her ID at home and you needed it to get in the park. (Before  you get all nervous, it turns out okay.)
I had the brilliant idea of going to the Jelly Belly factory that we passed on the way here, while we were waiting. From now on think of me as "Melita The Lifesaver" because that was the funnest thing ever. We got to wear these cool hats and sample jelly beans. We even got a tour of the place. We weren't allowed to take any pictures, so.. sorry. The factory looked just like Willy Wonka's. Oompa Loompas putting jelly beans in packages and spinning them around in a polisher. We saw a video on how they printed their logo on every single one of them. It was all very interesting. And then afterwards we went to the gift shop and Grandpa bought 10 pounds of "Belly Flops." Belly Flops were the ones that were too big or too small and didn't make it past the screen thingy. (Like in Willy Wonka with the good eggs and bad eggs, they had good beans and bad beans.)
Then Six Flags was open, Grandma got through without her ID, it didn't rain at all and the lines were really short because of all the chickens who thought it was going to rain. Six Flags was really fun. I had gone to the same one about 3 years ago and I'm much braver now. Last time I wouldn't go on any of the scary rides, but this time I went on Medusa. My eyes were closed the whole time so the upside-downs weren't that bad. The scary part was my sister shrieking in my ear every 5 seconds reminding me that I was upside-down. Then, we went on again so that we could look for the camera and make better faces. It was really fun. There were lights and Christmas songs. Oh and also we saw a dolphin show and that was the coolest thing EVER. The dolphins were really talented and there was a guy water skiing on them. The tiger show was also the coolest thing EVER because the tiger was so cute and he acted just like a little kitty chasing yarn or something.

It's not about winning, it's about Christmas

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Everywhere you goooooo.  I forgot the rest of the song but keep reading this to the tune..da...da..da.............da......da....da.
Time for some gift exchanging. Today Grace and Sam came over and we gave each other some a' presents. Let's see. I got a cell phone holder from Sam and a "Nightmare Before Christmas"-looking owl statue from Grace. I thank my fan club for those wonderful gifts. I got Sam a peppermint scented candle and I didn't like Grace enough to get her anything. Just kidding. I'm a kidder like that. I actually ordered her something that's not here, yet. Then we went shopping downtown, and even though I had a cell phone holder, I still managed to leave my phone at the store so we had to walk back and get it. Oops.
After that, we made a gingerbread house. It, um, looked great. And we made absolutely no mess at all. (Is there any way to read sarcasm?) We actually made quite a huge mess and it looked delicious, but not exactly "great." But it was ok because it's not about winning or losing, it's about having fun.
Tomorrow we are having "Mini Christmas" at my dad's house. Opening presents from my parents before opening presents from my relatives in California, which we leave for on Wednesday. There are just too many presents going around.

Too Many Holidays

Happy Thanksgiving! Jolly Black Friday? Wait, no. Merry Christmas! Have you noticed that? That they pretty much go right from Halloween to Christmas? Not me, though. Just kidding. That was a joke because the day after Thanksgiving, on Black Friday, we went to the Christmas themed amusement park, Busch Gardens. In Virginia. Did I mention that I was in Virginia for Thanksgiving? Maybe I'll mention it later because I'm going to tell you about Busch Gardens. Well, I didn't take any pictures because I left my phone at the house so you'll just have to either imagine it or go to Google Images. I'm sure we're in the background of some random stranger's picture, though, so it's all good.
First, we got our picture taken with the Gingerbread Man which kind of counters everything I just said. Then, we went for a train ride whilst listening to Christmas music. That put me right in the spirit. Then, we strolled along until I begged to try an impossible basketball shooting game where I, of course, lost. There was only one roller-coaster running during the Christmas village extravaganza which I was peer-pressured into going on. Verbolten. It was really fun, actually. We also went on a gondola ride when it was dark and the twinkly Christmas lights were super bright. We waited in line for almost an hour. The gondola was really fun, but only about three minutes long and not really worth it. After that we tried the best hot chocolate ever. It was like peppermint fudge or something. And the worlds best hotdog. The pretzel dog. Now I have Christmas songs stuck in my head.
I am about to go backwards and tell you about Thanksgiving. Don't confuse yourself. This year for Thanksgiving we went to Virginia to see family. We drove for 10 hours split into two days. With a puppy. I was thankful for family and friends and food and such, but mostly I was thankful that he didn't pee in the car. We finally got there. We stuffed ourselves on Thanksgiving, saw The Perks of Being a Wallflower in the theater, and went Black Friday shopping at the mall in the Navy Base.
On our last day my mom and my sister got the flu so we had an extended day. For them it sucked, but not for me. I got to go to the zoo, learned how to play cribbage and watched some movies. But other than the flu and the LONG drive it was really fun. And now I must collapse in a heap because I just got home from driving for 10 hours home from Virginia.
